Seriously, what now?

I hate to be that guy and make threads like this, but I should say current events don't look like a bright future for the game.

After numerous delays of release date and CBT events (from initial date being set 2011), and a few months of dead silence we get this rather troublesome update that open beta is being delayed for unspecified time:

Thank you all for your support over the past few months while we have been testing the game in Closed Beta. While we received an incredible amount of positive feedback, the Closed Beta tests also identified several key areas of the game which need polish and improvement.

As a result, we have decided to postpone the Open Beta phase of testing until further notice. We will let you know as soon as we have an update. Those players who made an End of Nations purchase should expect to receive a follow-up email shortly. Thank you in advance for your continued input and support. It is greatly appreciated.

This post means that either the game is getting it's 2nd (or 3rd, I don't know) major remake or they are preparing us to tell about cancellation.

You may think delays are good for the game quality. Not always. DNF being a good example. I was in every closed beta event and have to say the game almost hasn't progressed at all except a few minor UI updates.

Then we are informed that alpha is going down:

Alpha is being taken offline during this phase as we work on the game.

And the most worrying fact:

There is no End of Nations link on Petroglyph Forums like it used to be in the past.


Dear developers, if the game is being canceled, tell us now. The sooner you tell us, the better will be for everyone. If there are still plans for release then you should probably interact more with the community and keep your potential customers updated, otherwise you'll see more posts like this.

[Edit] And by saying "keep customers updated" I mean release some new shiny tralers; don't forget about Warfront episodes; do some interviews and question/answers; do some contests; post some interesting polls (most of them are closed right now); in general - keep your community interested.

Maybe a step has been taken and the source code of the game has been put in Trion inhouse development. It would be a great move imho. Petro hasn't delivered much good stuff the last few years. This guardian game they are making is just another LoL clone so bleh ...

Well I hope this is what happend, TRION has proven with RIFT they have the development talent !

I figured it out, petroworldwoodtrion was going to release it on 12/12/2012 but then they realised that it would probably be a bad idea if they released it specifically on that that. You know karma, stars and all that jaz.
