Default A few new unit ideas of mine

I registered specifically for a few unit ideas I had, which I felt necessary to post. :P I'm an RTS player and I even used to play C&C back when Westwood still made them. I've played a few of petroglyph's games, too. So anyways, here are my ideas for units. Some are very C&C or StarCraft inspired.

    Shadow Revolution:
Cobra - Lightly armored, quick hovercraft or amphibious wheeled vehicle that is armed with a missile rack. It is cloaked when idle or moving and can cross water areas.
Lifter Truck - Giant truck that has an aircraft bay on its back. The VTOL craft on its back can take off and attack a unit that is far away. It must, however, return to the truck and land to regenerate its ammunition and heal. Should the VTOL get destroyed, it can be rebuilt.
Chameleon - A small mobile vehicle that can deploy to either project a cloaking field or a shield.

    Liberation Front:
Colossus - 2-legged mech armed with a cannon (Think of the "Titan" mech from Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun). It can walk over other vehicles and ignore them completely, unlike tanks, which have to go around enemy vehicles. It has a much wider range and can "entrench" or "armor up" (It curls itself up) to protect itself from enemy fire (perhaps become highly resistant to damage, or deflect a certain percentage of damage back towards the enemy), but becomes immobile while doing so, and cannot attack any enemy units in this mode either.
Striker - Beefed up infantry completely encased inside a powered armor (Think of the Terran Marine from StarCraft), armed with a powerful gun (Gauss Rifle? Railgun?)
Prometheus - Lighter, quicker variant of the Archimedes. It is a hover tank, and can cross water areas as a result.
Mobile Defense Platform - A threaded utility vehicle that can deploy into a point defense structure, which can arm itself with anti-armor, anti-infantry or anti-aircraft turrets. (I know, ripped off FoC)
Assault Platform -A large combat vehicle whose weapons can be customized. It is essentially a more mobile MDP, with more health and armor, and requires more points to deploy. (Think of it as a sort of super-unit) It has 2 hardpoints, each being customizable with a certain weapon.

Some kind of amphibious jeep/scout vehicle would also be interesting, I think. Could be for either factions.

I like the idea of amphibious units, and other types of units that can cross specific types of land/water obstacles, but from what I've seen of the maps (which isn't much), there haven't been many water spots.

The lifter truck sounds interesting, but I fear players might just camp in their base and send the VTOL out in order to get kills and never get killed themselves.

The Chameleon sounds cool, but I wonder if it would make the other cloaking units somewhat obsolete?

And I'm all for a good scouting vehicle. In many RTS games, scouting = strategy advantage.

Well, the Lifter truck's VTOL can be attacked and destroyed. And I guess you could always limit the distance the VTOL can go (Let's say it's a drone and the signal might get lost if it goes too far).

As for the Chameleon, it's weak and it has to deploy to cloak units. Other Stealth units can simply move about and remain cloaked so long as they do not fire. And you could always either just give detection to certain units, or simply make the vehicle visible when it is deployed, even though what it cloaks remains invisible while under the vehicle's cloak field's range.

I'm sold on the heavily armored marine from starcraft, hopefully it could shoot the pesky air units with rockets or something

It sounds like a Wraith from SG. And that's exactly what the Guardian unit in the armory is. Except that it can switch between shooting air and ground targets rather than picking one and being stuck with that "mode" for the duration of a battle (as you could switch to a different weapon between battles if you wanted to).

    http://www.endofnations.com/en/armory/guardian

"Equipped with high-tech armor resistant to EMP blasts and outfitted with the latest in weapons systems, the Guardian was based on plans stolen at great cost from the Order of Nations. Against enemies on the ground or in the air, the Guardian is a force to be reckoned with. In its normal upright mobile position, the Guardian's armament system is capable of bringing down airborne adversaries at great distances. The Guardian's most powerful weapon, though, is its heavy chain gun. When deployed in lockdown mode for extra stability, the Guardian can unleash punishing damage on ground vehicles. While the Guardian is vulnerable to radiation, napalm, and minor mortar damage, these weaknesses are far outweighed by its rapid firing ability."

Edit: though it seems like the Guardian is an extremely fast unit, which seems a bit weird.

Not if they get stealth. Stealth or mobility, they shouldn't get both.
People who say it cannot be done should get out of the way of those who are doing it.

My Elo rating for getting laid is 2500.

The question isn't whether or not you survived EoN 2012, but rather, whether or not you survived The Exarchs.

    This:

Only you want just a "bipod"
I really love the idea of a class of tank who is still technically land-bound, but gets to fight from the plane/perspective that the helicopters are at. What an interesting hybrid that would create... hypotheticaly, would it still be a tank, or an air unit, as far as the rocks paper scissors theme would go? fun food for tought: a class of tank that, when encountering helicopters, didn't resort to some secondary AA weapon, simply "stood up".
Personally I like the tripod imagery over that of an at-st
