1)Outcast for me was a amazingly immersive game almost felt like a movie and the music pieces along side it probably helped. There was alot of rewarding content at that time for exploring;p and the environment was diverse.

    2) Mechwarrior Commander My Rts dream game of my youth. I was quite fond of how various bits of your Mech would get damaged and almost unusable, i.e if your leg was damaged and you ordered a unit to jump jet it would still be able to but would structurally damage itself on landing

Other such games as Asherons call 2, planet side, C&C Generals almost come high amongst other older game. My memory is taking a walk over the horizon right now and isn't available for work.

You have the win. I prefer playing the Barbarian expansion in Rome, or just Medieval 2, but I won't argue with good taste.

I haven't played it in years, but I still have a copy of the original Shogun. On the list of things that make me giggle like a madman (it's actually a rather long list) is fielding an army comprised entirely of upgraded Kensei. Also on the list is what I do when I get a painfully incompetent noble character in Rome/Med2.

My favourite game has to be the original C&C, purely because it was one of the first games I ever played - on a Sega Saturn, many many years ago.
My second and third? Time Splitters 2 and 3. Why? Multiplayer. Damn those games were so much fun with 3 other people. Then there's the map maker. Sure it was limited, but for a console game it was impressive. Of course, technology has advanced considerably since then, but I still believe that the map makers in Time Splitters 2 and 3 are among the best and most user friendly.

I long for Crytek to develop a sequel, the lack of Time Splitters on the current gen consoles is a disappointment.

    let's see

Starcraft, I spend a lot of time playing that game LAN with my brothers and friends
I love that you guys mentioned RUSE it deserves more attention as it is a great game
Warcraft 3 was also fun but I felt that there was too much focus on heroes, I rather have big armies fighting each other
portal, I still need to play portal 2, I hope it's as much fun as the first one
jedi knight jedi academy: my favorite StarWars game (although forced unleashed was also quite good)
Red Alert 2: damn, it seems so long ago

I like almost any kind of FPS or RTS game, like RA:APB or RA2.

    So for me,
Guns + RTS layout = me happy

    and

Guns + RTS layout = End of Nations

    so we must conclude,

End of Nations = Me Happy

We're talking computer games, right? Otherwise, I've played Dungeons and Dragons since 1982...

On the computer, my all time favorite would be Quake 2: Weapons Factory. I all but lived that game when I was in my early 20's.

Default Favorite RTS game + favorite game overall

My favorite RTS game would have to be a tie between Act of War by Eugen Systems (makers of R.U.S.E. and W:EE) and World in Conflict by Sierra and Massive. Particularly, what interested me in those two was the fact that both happened to involve large elements of realism (a MUST for ANY RTS/RTT game), a nice selection of units and unit abilities, a decent storyline, and very dynamic gameplay. If there was one problem I found, it was really the low number of missions. Normally I tend to notice that great games have a small number of missions, while good or average games get a higher number (not always true, of course, but a clear noticeable pattern). I was fortunate to get the expansion to the original Act of War: Direct Action AND the Collector's Edition to World in Conflict (which contains an actual piece of the Berlin Wall) at very affordable prices.

I did mention also that I have to have a favorite game OVERALL. That would probably be H.A.L.O. Combat Evolved (aka H.A.L.O. 1). It was the game that launched my foray into FPS gaming and it was such a joy, at 9 years old, to be fighting a really cool and awesome game in a fictional galaxy far, far away, shooting energy weapons and driving big vehicles and blowing up stuff. It was truly like being a kid in a candy store, except the candy was much more sweetening. I've not played FPS games (online, at least) since April or so, since I want to help further this game, but perhaps when there is less drama on there, I might be going back. However, I do hope to still stick here as well.
