Smile Any good *modern* real-time strategy games?

Ok I have a question - does anyone know any real-time strategy (or tactics or any other type of that game) with *modern setting*. I don't like future/fantasy/history much.

I don't care about graphics and how old it is at all.

The closest one is c&c generals, but I have been playing it for a very long time and got bored...

I had fun with World In Conflict.

Haven't tried it in a long time but it was a blast for the time I played.

Mostly flew around with choppers, flying low, feeling mean.

    Pilots doing what they please.

It is. It is historically and politically accurate with the views from the Anglo-Germans, Warsaw Pact (Poland, USSR), and the Americans during Able Archer '83. It features totally brutal gameplay and stunning visuals and sound affects. Artillery, destruction, Roflcopters, m0ar tanks. What's not to love?

Since everyone already mentioned World in Conflict, I'll say C&C Generals. Its more simplistic than WIC, not to mention its terrible (by today's standard) graphics, but the game-play is still solid. Wargame: European Escalation is better if you want more realism elements, though its more cold-war than modern day, but not that different.

The original Command & Conquer was as close to modern as you will get, except for the Tiberian element (but really the concept was still fairly plausible at that point)

Forgot to mention that it's also free now; Ea released it as freeware to promote one of their newer (and crappier) C&C spinoffs. You can obtain a very legal copy here: http://www.shacknews.com/article/487...ommand-conquer

There is Apox and Act of war series you can try out. But tbh the best one would have to be the Coh series, even though it is WWII, it is the only one that is quite authentic i.e units actually get pinned, tank's main guns can be destroyed, tanks can be disabled, and etc.
